Plane & Solid Geometry : Geometry
Instructor: Mr. Robert Caputo
Plane and Solid Geometry is a graduation requirement for Sacramento City Unified School District high school students.  The course is the study of Eucledian Geometry.   Geometry provides students with experiences that deepen the understanding of two and three-dimensional objects and their properties. Deductive and inductive reasoning as well as investigative strategies in drawing conclusions are stressed.  Students study congruent segments and angles, circle chords, secants and tangent segments, parallel and perpendicular lines, angle measure in triangles, direct and indirect triangle congruence and similarity, proofs, solids of revolution, logic, similar triangles, transformations, the Pythagorean Theorem, geometric constructions, coordinate geometry, and surface area and volume of solids.  Properties and relationships of geometric objects include the study of: (1) points, lines, angles and planes; (2) polygons, with a special focus on quadrilaterals, triangles, right triangles; (3) circles; and (4) polyhedra and other solids.  An understanding of proof and logic is developed.  Use of calculators and dynamic geometry software are encouraged and used..

NEED OF MATH HELP? Check This out!

I have come across a Web site that offers assistance with math homework and study for middle school and high school students. The Web site provides teacher recorded instructional content in a video animation directly aligned to the textbook.  The Web site is http://www.nutshellmath.com .  I encourage students and parents to consider use of this Web site.    In addition, there are practice problems for students to prepare for quizzes and exams.  There is a fee that allows use for the school year. The cost is $8.00 and I have to establish the class. If enough students are interested, I will do this. More information provided at Back-to-School nught.  If you have questions, send me an email.

The following Web site provides video tutorials: http://www.brightstorm.com/ .  The site provides video help for algebra through precalculus.

Note that video (multimedia clips, flash presentations, video segments) require DSL at a minimum, no dial-up.
